brasil

Last night: Tiramisu and decaf at Brasil.  I am never disappointed by this restaurant, on the corner of Trendy and Hipster.

C-H-I-L-D is the ish

My first thought when I saw that Donald Glover was coming to Warehouse Live was cool, fun comedy show. Who knew the Community actor also makes incredible music??? Apparently about a thousand hipsters. The iamdonald tour features a comedy opening followed by the musical stylings of Childish Gambino, Glover's rap-tastic alter ego.

The comedy is a peek into the world of fame, through the eyes of a newbie. Hilarious encounters with celebs are recounted-- Reggie Bush using Glover's black frames to get girls, for instance.

Glover then uses interactive video to segway to the musical portion of the show.  That guy can drop some beats. Clear, smart, rapid rhymes that thrive on Glover's fluid moves on stage. The energy was contagious.

Highlight? Surprise appearance by Bun B and the rap-off that followed.

Watch out for this kid.

ain't nobody feelin' no pain

Thanks, Luckenbach!

Luckenbach Dance Floor

The whole city of L-bach

It really was

Luckenbach, Texas was founded by Hondo Crouch, who just wanted to drink and dance.  And that's exactly what folks flock here to do.  It's about a 4 hour drive from Houston,  perfect for a long weekend.  We enjoyed the hospitality of nearby Fredericksburg and drove the 10 miles to Luckenbach for dancin', drinkin', and chattin'.  The country charm and cheap beers will make you fall in love all over again.

Faster than you'd think

Those little suckers are participants in Little Woodrow's Turtle Races, a Thursday night Midtown staple. Pick a turtle, watch them scurry, and claim your free beer. The outdoor event makes for a perfect summer weekend kickoff.
